As a traveling family, we are dedicated to finding immersive and educational experiences all over the world. In our search, we noticed that many worldschooling hubs or events primarily look inward. The focus in your typical worldschooling community is on forging lasting bonds and co-education. We think learners of all ages would be better served by looking outward and giving back to the communities they travel in.

Where can I find a worldschooling community in Texas?
With the shift away from the conventional workplace and schools in response to COVID-19, it seems like you can throw a rock and hit a worldschooling community. Your one-stop-shop for finding a worldschooling community is the Facebook search bar. You can do the same in virtually every social media platform, but we have found great success linking up with local and global groups just with a quick search.

A worldschooling community with cultural immersion
Culture is at the heart of our mission. This is quite ironic given the difficulty in defining the term. Culture is an amorphous concept but is really about identity. The values, beliefs, customs, and social institutions around which people form groups collectively describe our identity—what makes us the same and what makes us different.
We developed a special type of worldschooling hub that highlights the cultural aspect of experiential learning. Our goal is to leverage the most important component that makes travel so transformative—the people. Learning from other cultures is what will truly bring us together and forge a lasting worldschooling community. This is what our Explore! Cultural Excursions are all about.
What is the San Antonio Cultural Excursion?
Explore! San Antonio Cultural Excursion is a fun-filled family-friendly adventure in the “Alamo City.” We handcrafted the itinerary to make the most of your time in this great city. Our Cultural Excursion is a 6-day worldschooling hub with built in flexibility and budget-friendly options perfect for a family or solo traveler.

A unique aspect of our Explore! Cultural Excursions is that Amanda and I serve as your guide and host throughout the event. We ensure that we are intimately familiar with the history, the people, and the ins and outs of every one of our locations. San Antonio comes with the added bonus that we actually live here, giving you special local insight.
Is this hub geared toward certain age groups?
We believe that learning is a lifelong pursuit and worldschooling is as much about the adults as it is about the kids. That is why we create a unique experience perfect for all ages. Depending on our participants at any given event, we will adjust the itinerary to be as inclusive as possible to everyone. Since we span 33 years within our family, we know how to accommodate a wide array of interests.
What makes San Antonio Cultural Excursion a worldschooling community?
Your itinerary is expertly planned to give you the opportunity to engage with the local community and other like-minded guests. Each day has 1-2 planned group events led by yours truly where you can bond with other guests. You also get access to a private group where you can coordinate extra meetups, share resources, and stay in touch with your new friends. One of the best things about our Explore! Cultural Excursion is that we find budget-friendly (mostly free) options to host the meetups. That way, you don’t feel obligated to run yourself ragged at the group’s pace.
How much does it cost?
We price our Explore! Cultural Excursions to make them accessible to everyone. Most of the selected locations are FREE. In the rare case where admission isn’t free, guests will be responsible for their own fee. For dining meetups, we try to strike a balance between local experience and budget-friendly to limit expenditures.
Full Excursion—$70 per family (regardless of the size)
Daily Excursion—$15 per family

Worldschooling community giving back
What sets our Explore! Cultural Excursions apart from every other worldschooling hub or guided tour is that we give guests the opportunity to give back. Our goal is to help everyone travel with purpose. As a result, we partner with local nonprofit and volunteer organizations to create an event that supports the local community.
Pledging Support
Each Explore! Cultural Excursion is linked with a local cause that shares our values. We work tirelessly to find an organization that is making the world a better place one nameless stranger at a time so we can better understand what that community needs. We, then, pledge 10% of our profits from the event to that organization. What this means to the mindful traveler is that simply participating in one of our Explore! Cultural Excursions adds purpose to your travel.
Volunteer Day with our worldschooling community
The highlight of your 6-day event is Volunteer Day. We do all the logistics for you to ensure you have a fruitful experience giving back to the local community. That means you don’t have to worry about age restrictions, supplies, or coordination. We will volunteer at a local organization that accepts travelers of all ages, so your family can make a difference together. This is our favorite part of the trip because the look on the kids’ faces after a job-well-done is priceless.

Is it safe to travel?
For each Explore! Cultural Excursion, our COVID-19 policy is readily accessible on the event page. We have a flexible Cancellation & Refund Policy to make your planning as hassle free as possible. For those unable to travel in person, we offer an array of Virtual Options, as well. If you attend virtually, you will still gain access to the private group so you can be an active part of our worldschooling community.
Where is Explore! Cultural Excursion going next?
We are excited to announce that we are expanding our offerings on the international stage! In June 2022, we will be hosting Explore! Oaxaca Cultural Excursion. Much like the event in San Antonio, we will be welcoming worldschoolers, families, and solo travelers to a culturally significant destination. Before the event, we will be spending 30 days in Oaxaca, Mexico and the surrounding area. We are eager to make friends and learn as much as we can about the area so we can bring you an enriching experience this summer!
